Why buy from us?
We're positive that you'll be buzzing with excitement to go on this beekeeping course! Deep in the heart of the Sussex countryside in High Weald near East Grinstead, you'll be learning about becoming a beekeeper, and how tending for one of Mother Nature's most fundamental pollinators work to produce naturally sweet and delicious honey. Your course leaders are Lisa Aitken and Olivar Sinclair, both of whom are passionate about horticulture, apiculture and self sufficiency, and will give you a full insight into all aspects of beekeeping; from making a honeycomb, to analysing the symbiotic relationship between bees, flowers and the hive that ultimately combine to produce the honey. You'll be offered practical guidance on how to harvest the honey and tend to the bees without damaging the hive as a whole, what types of hives there are, and what care and attention your resident bees will need on a regular basis, particularly in the UK which comes with an ever changing climate to contend with. You'll also get to take a look inside a working hive, and marvel at the intricacy of the wax patterns and identify the queen bee in a colony. You'll be provided with all the protective clothing and gear that's required for beekeeping, and the course is run in small groups at a relaxed pace to help make it more fun and interactive. Lunch and refreshments are also provided, and you'll have the opportunity to visit the gift shop at the end of your day to take home a pot of honey for yourself.
