London Rally School Driving Experiences

What is a London Rally School driving experience?
A London Rally School experience is an off-road driving adventure based in Oxfordshire, designed to teach real rally driving skills on a purpose-built gravel stage. Unlike traditional track days on tarmac circuits, this experience focuses on loose-surface driving, where participants learn techniques like controlled slides, handbrake turns, and car control on gravel. It's considered one of the most immersive rally-style driving experiences in the UK.
Where is London Rally School located?
London Rally School is located in Stratton Audley near Bicester in Oxfordshire, just under an hour from London via the M40. Despite its name, it is based in the countryside rather than the capital, giving it the space needed for its dedicated gravel rally stage and off-road driving layout. Its location makes it easily accessible from London, the Midlands, and much of southern England.
What makes rally driving different from track driving?
Rally driving is very different from circuit driving. Instead of smooth tarmac, drivers are on loose gravel surfaces where traction is constantly changing. This means the focus is on car control rather than outright speed, including managing slides, correcting oversteer, and reacting quickly to changing grip levels. Many drivers describe it as more technical and more “hands-on” than traditional track experiences.
What happens during a London Rally School experience?
A typical rally experience starts with a full safety briefing, followed by demonstration laps from a professional instructor to show the key techniques and racing lines on gravel. You will then move into hands-on driving sessions, rotating between different rally cars throughout the day. With a professional instructor by your side at all times, you will learn and practice essential skills such as oversteer and understeer control, handbrake turns, power slides, Scandinavian flicks, and more. Their ongoing coaching and feedback help build your confidence and improve your technique as you progress. For full details of what’s included, please refer to the individual experience descriptions.
How long does a London Rally School experience last?
Experience lengths vary depending on the package: Half-day rally experiences typically last around 3 hours on site and Full-day experiences usually run from morning to mid-afternoon (around 9:30am–4:00pm) Full-day sessions include multiple cars, more advanced instruction, and timed competition elements, while half-day sessions focus on core rally driving skills. For full details of what’s included, please refer to the individual experience descriptions.

The rolling Oxfordshire countryside is quintessentially English. But forget afternoon tea with cucumber sandwiches as more importantly, it's also home to a number of exciting Rally Experiences with the London Rally School.

Off-road action takes centre stage as the grit flies, wheels spin and the cars power their way around the Rally stage. Its central location also makes it incredibly easy to get to, including being under an hour's drive from London on the M40.

Visitors that are attending rally driving days are generally advised to dress in casual clothing with flat soled shoes. Guests and spectators are welcome to attend, for a £10 charge, and there are dedicated viewing areas for guests provided on rally stages as well as a chance to attend the drivers rally briefing. Refreshments are also available throughout the day for drivers and guests.

Rally Courses at London Rally School

The Half Day Rally Course is a great introduction to the joys and thrills of rallying. You'll learn basic skills, including how to control the car in understeer and oversteer.

An equally popular experience for just a morning or afternoon is the Monte Carlo Half Day Course. This is your chance to master two rally cars and provides you with the skills to tackle more advanced rallying. We're sure that by the time you've finished, you'll be eager to test your rallying skills even further.

And the great news is that you can learn more! Indeed, once bitten by the rallying bug you can progress to either the Rally Challenge Course, the Acropolis Day or the Full Day Course.

On the Rally Challenge Course, you'll tackle special gravel stages, taking charge of three cars with the same instructor by your side. By the end of the day, it's time to go for it on the special rally stage and put what you've learnt into practice.

The Acropolis Day lets you swap rural Oxfordshire for sun-kissed Greece (please note, the sun is not guaranteed for your rally experience!). The fun and the cars are real – the iconic Ford Escort RS2000 and the equally impressive Subaru Impreza – but you'll have to imagine you're powering along the dusty, rough and stony mountain roads around the Greek capital. Who knows though - if you're good enough, then perhaps Athens awaits!

Meanwhile, the Full Day Course is the ultimate experience for any rally fan. By the end of the day, you'll have mastered the special rally stage and a timed lap will see which driver is the fastest.
