It's not many of our Own Car Track Day venues that are best suited for all levels of track driving aptitude. But Blyton Park is absolutely one of them - and, it's probably for this reason that, in the East Midlands, it's one of our most popular venues.

If you're yet to bring your set of hot wheels to this much revered track close to the border where Leicestershire meets the border with Lincolnshire, we've taken a closer look into just what you can look forward to…

Blyton Park: A Brief History

The beginnings of Blyton Park come from its roots as an RAF base, RAF Blyton, which was active during and after WWII. Closed as an active airbase in 1955, it began hosting motorsports of all kinds for cars and bikes alike, as well as rallying, drag racing, go-karting, stock car racing and much more besides, which continues to this day.

The current track circuit, which is around 1.6 miles long, is situated on what used to be the North - South runway of the old airbase. The track itself can take on one of two formations for events; either the more commonly used Outer Circuit layout, or the slightly shorter Eastern Circuit layout, which is 1.5 miles long, and was added in 2014.

What Is The Track Like At Blyton Park?

The tarmac surface on the track offers a superb high grip surface with excellent runoff. It's for this reason that many newcomers to the world of track day events will descend on Blyton Park, as the configuration of the track in its Outer Circuit layout is ideal for novices who are just getting to grips with track driving.

The slightly shorter Eastern Circuit layout is more challenging, making it excellent for experienced drivers, as it has several tight hairpins and corners to navigate. Either way, there's something that all levels of expertise will get enjoyment out of at Blyton.

What Track Day Events Are Hosted At Blyton Park?

Own car track day events run across the year at Blyton Park. The most common events that are hosted here are the Open Pitlane car events, which are suitable for all track driving levels of ability. In high season (from April - October) this will be anywhere from £159 to £169. In the low season (between November - March) events are priced from £119 - £149.

However, there are also special events that are hosted here as well, such as Novice Only track day events (ideal for those who are looking for more driving time to learn and put their newly acquired skills into practice, with dedicated tuition from ARDS qualified instructors) or specific marque only days, such as the upcoming Mazda MX5 events that are running in June.

It's worth bearing in mind that each track day event will have specific requirements that must be adhered to, particularly about certain models or types of vehicles that are not permitted on track, so always remember to read through all the information carefully before you make your booking.

Can I Get Tuition On A Blyton Park Track Day?

You can opt to have tuition on your track day event. More often than not, this will be an additional charge on top of the price of your track day when you go to make your booking, and if you choose to have additional drivers other than yourself on the day, then they will be required to pay for tuition as well, as this is charged per person.

However, on some packages, such as the Novice Only track days we mentioned above, tuition is included in the price. But again, we would always recommend consulting all the information regarding tuition and any other additional charges before you make your booking.

Can I Hire a Car for a Blyton Park Track Day?
